One event = one LLM call you track with the SDK. If you call `m.track()` or wrap an LLM client, each model invocation is one event.
New events return a 402 from the ingest API, and the SDK logs a clear upgrade message. Your dashboard keeps working — you just stop accepting new events until the next calendar month or until you upgrade. We email you at 80% and 100%.
Trials force you to commit before you know if the product works. A usage-based free tier lets you run Margint against real production traffic on your own timeline. If you never hit 100k, you're a hobbyist — pay nothing and keep using it.
No. GitHub OAuth and go. You only add a card when you upgrade to Pro.
No. The SDK only sends metadata — model name, token counts, optional customer/feature tags, computed cost. Prompts and completions never leave your servers.
Anything that returns a token count. OpenAI, Anthropic, Google (Gemini), Mistral, Cohere, Groq, together.ai, Fireworks, Perplexity, Azure OpenAI, Bedrock, and local models via Ollama or vLLM are all confirmed working. The pricing database is backed by LiteLLM's 400+ model registry.
No. The SDKs are MIT-licensed and work entirely locally if you don't set an API key — you get cost calculation and can export JSON. The dashboard is the upgrade path when you want history, Stripe sync, and budget enforcement.
